Tales from the plot
This exciting project funded by heritage lottery fund aims to celebrate Bristol’s rich allotment culture and share that culture with school children and the wider Bristol public.
Bristol has over a hundred allotment sites and countless experienced gardeners.
This project aims to acknowledge those gardeners by creating platforms on which the knowledge they hold can be shared.
We have been busy interviewing allotment gardeners acorss Bristol and now this audio will be part of an audio-visual exhibition that will tour to 5 venues in Bristol beginning on 22nd June.
You’ll be able to hear tales of rings lost and found, cheeky foxes, sloe gin chocolate and the joy of harvesting the first bean of the season. The exhibition also outlines the history of urban gardening in Bristol and the role it plays in our communities today.
We’re running school workshops and public events in tandem to the exhibition. Allotment gardeners will be along to to share their stories and experiences.
If you’re interested in bringing a school party or community group along to the group, please do get in touch to find out what we can offer your party.
We look forward to seeing you there.
